Abigail Ryu is a South Korean actor, singer, certified storytelling coach, and educator who recently graduated with a BFA in Drama from NYU Tisch School of the Arts in New York City. Passionate about helping students grow in confidence, creativity, and authentic self-expression, she combines vocal training with storytelling, emotional connection, and performance coaching.
Abigail received the Best Solo Award at NYU’s Skirball Talent Show and was selected as Yonsei Idol 2024 while studying abroad at Yonsei University in Seoul. She is currently leading the national touring production K-Pop Superstars as a lead performer and creative collaborator, while also continuing her work in TV, film, and live performance.
Having moved abroad alone at a young age despite not initially speaking English, Abigail’s journey shaped a teaching style rooted in discipline, warmth, creativity, and emotional authenticity. With experience coaching children and young performers in musical theatre and vocal performance, she focuses on helping students strengthen technique, confidence, stage presence, and genuine artistic expression while making learning deeply enjoyable and inspiring.

Hi! I’m Abigail Ryu.
I was born and raised in the small town of Hwaseong, South Korea, where I first fell in love with music and stories that move the heart. I began with classical voice training, then stepped into musical theatre and discovered how much a voice can carry when it is connected to story, emotion, and truth.
In 2019, I moved to America and began learning English from scratch — a journey that taught me courage, faith, and persistence. During the pandemic, I spent time back in Korea and trained with Jeon Bong Jin, one of the top K-pop vocal coaches, who helped me understand the technical strength behind freedom of expression.
A few years later, I moved to New York City to pursue my dreams and earned my BFA in Drama from NYU Tisch School of the Arts, training at The Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute and Stonestreet Studios. I also studied voice with Q Lim, Tyley Ross, Chris Dilley, and Sakile Camara, developing a blend of classical precision, pop energy, musical theatre storytelling, and emotional expression.
Since 2023, I’ve been teaching voice, English, and storytelling to students of all ages and backgrounds — from beginners discovering their first notes to aspiring performers preparing for auditions. Before moving to New York, I taught music and English drama in Korea, leading creative classes that combined language learning with confidence-building through performance. Now, I’m grateful to be fluent and confident in English, and to help international students find their own voices in a new language, bridging cultures and emotions through song.
In 2025, I wrote and directed my original musical Because He Is, I Am, which premiered at KCQ in New York. I later created Because He Is, I Am: Part Two, and I’m now developing my third original musical, Build Different, centered on the power of our words, faith, and the confession of the Word of God.
As a performer, I’ve been honored to sing and act on stages including The Korea Society, The New York Public Library, and Enob at Milal Mission. I was awarded Best Solo at NYU’s annual Ultra Violet Live Talent Show, and I’m currently on a national tour with K-Pop Superstars Live as the main lead, lead vocalist, and host.
I believe every person carries a unique and beautiful story — something no one else can express in the same way. Because we are all different, the way we sing, speak, feel, and tell stories is different too
